This was another crazy two weeks where I was barely in school or around my cats but I did manage to take advantage of the time I had In class to research a few different majors at UNL on East Campus which could be considered a fail and accomplishment for me because now I am stuck with a few majors I like such as my original major of fisheries and wildlife along with tourism, Hospitality, and environmental restoration. Im not quite sure what I want yet but a goal is to have some sort of Idea after my job shadow at the Omaha Zoo which I am very excited for. Another event that happened was I signed up for a college visit at UNL focusing on mostly the fisheries and wildlife so I can distinguish which major is best fit for me. The updates on my plants are up again however I have failed in maintaining the cat grass because my cats ate so much of it all at once that I couldn't keep up with replanting it. However my goal in the future is to provide them with maybe a box of planted cat grass and research ways to make it so they don't eat all of it at once or maybe to have the plant regrow every time they eat it. I don't know If that's possible but I will look into it. A final update in this blog is on my cats, Olive and Milo are doing very well after the surgery, olives personality has completely changed she is lovey but at the same time just as adventurous, she loves going outside now and playing in the grass or watching cars drive by. Milo is almost the opposite he is still very cuddly and lazy and such a people person, he just hates going outside so keeping them both entertained is quite hard. Another thing I could do Is research ways to make cats more comfortable outside I think that would help Milo come out of his shell. My take away from these last two weeks is how hard It is to keep up with so many animals and their different needs as well as the plants and all their diverse needs, in the end I would say its definitely worth being busy with them all the time.

These last few weeks have been pretty hectic. We finally got Olive and Milo into the Alda Vet to get spayed and neutered. That was a crazy week because the appointment was set for a Wednesday and my car broke down so I had no way to get them to the vet before school. I ended up taking them to my grandmas which was almost a complete fail. Milo and my grandma got along very well she said he was allowed to visit again however Olive was super freaked out and hid practically the whole time. I had to drive over to wood river the morning of the appointment to help her get the cats in the cages because olive was not gonna let that be easy. When I arrived she hid from me and when we found her she got very angry I had to hold her for a little while to let her smell me so she could remember who I was. After that she got an attitude when I put her in the kennel so I had to get a separate kennel for milo, so not a total fail Milo did exceptionally great, he cried a lot but he is a mommas boy so he doesn't like being away from me but olive on the other hand was a fail for the reasons above. Another fail I had this week was the placement of my plants over the sink. While I was making food olive was keeping me company and my sister let the dogs in and scared olive and she knocked over all my plants so I rescued the ones I could and repotted them so they could continue growing I will have the pictures attached to the plants page. Out of all the fails I've had an accomplishment which is harvesting my aloe vera plant which after research I found can be helpful in many ways like using it for hydration on the skin, and making a drink to help your digestive tract.
My take away this week was that college will become stressful if you let it. You don't need to know exactly want you want to do as a freshman in college. As long as you ask questions and do your research, searching for a college can be much easier. My goals for the next few weeks are looking at the college classes that would best fit my interests and could alleviate some stress in college. This week I planned on replanting my morning glory flowers however I failed in doing that and while strolling through Walmart I saw plant starters that were the just bulbs so the plant was already germinated and it had a better chance of blooming. Even though I failed at replanting I fixed it with finding some better and more efficient ways to grow flowers with using bulbs. These past two weeks I learned that you must put a lot of effort into growing plants from seedlings. Another fail I had was my cat grass. Olive not only ate my morning glories but to much of the cat grass to the point where it couldn't grow anymore so I had to move my plants to a different location in the house. This week I accomplished my goals by showing the updates on my plants for this weeks and I also accomplished a side goal which is to be more responsible with my plants and to give them the care they need whether I feel to lazy to water them or not I did it because I knew they were my responsibility.
Another goal I had was sharing how I got Milo and it isn't as long of a story but it was full of surprises. I got milo when olive was nearing eight months of age and I noticed she needed more social skills so my friend sam connected me with someone who needed to get rid of kittens they had. So I looked through pictures got everything the cat needed to grow and went to their house to pick one. I originally planned to get one of the orange kitties but I fell in love with how cuddly milo was, well my only requirement was the kitten needed to be a girl for many reasons like how boy cats spray, and mine was a unfixed girl and I did not want babies. Well after a few months of calling him Meelah, we went on vacation and had a family friend watching him, she video chatted us and told us we had been wrong the whole time, and Meelah was in fact a Milo. Ever since he's been called milo and we have started researching ways to take care of him without having to get rid of him. My goals for these next two weeks is to keep updating on my cats with anything new and to repot my aloe vera plant along with replanting my morning glories. This is my first blog post! Here I will update you about big and small moments with my cats. Since my cats are no longer kittens there won't be many huge surprises like using the litter box and eating hard food, but I will keep you updated on new behaviors and any super cute times!
This week was more of a set up week, where I started taking more pictures and videos of my cats and their daily lives, however, I am I busy student and I am not home every second of the day. I have raised my cats this way since I got them as kittens. This week I accomplished taking care of the cats and getting my website and Instagram ready for the public. For my first blog post I'm just gonna take you on a little spin of olives life before I decided to blog. To start I will talk about olive her story is the most interesting. At school, I was in my Ag class and we were doing an activity outside, my teacher and FFA advisor, had pointed out a kitten laying under a tree crying. She had been out there for a couple days, she didn't even have her eyes open yet. We decided that I would be the best to take her home. After school I had went straight to PetCo and bought a nursing kit with formula and a couple bottles to feed her, I also got her a few blankets that would feel somewhat like her moms fur might have so she could be more comfortable. After I took her home I started figuring out how I was gonna take care of her at School. For the first day I left her at home to get used to being in the house and I figured out it didn't work because she needed to be fed multiple times a day in order to grow. I talked with my advisor and by the next day I was able to bring her to school and take some time during my Ag classes to feed her and even kids in the other classes enjoyed feeding her and putting her back to sleep. Before I knew it school was out and I was able to take her everywhere with me I got to watch her grow and become and amazing kitty. I would take her outside and on car rides with me so she loves the outside whenever she gets a chance she runs through the door when Im leaving to go play outside. I have had so much fun raising my own kitten from only a few days old, she has grown up to be very sassy and independent. For this first week I had many accomplishments including taking more pictures and videos and setting up their website and Instagram page. I found new ways to introduce the cats to my other animals including the gate we have set up in the house where they could meet and there not be a chance of violence and I failed the first few times with the cat door on the gate being open so the dogs got to the cats and scared them, but after getting tips from a T.V. show "my cat from hell", I learned how to introduce them to the dogs through gates and even by putting their food next to each other so they could get used to being around each other. These next few weeks I would like to get you guys up to date on my cats and how they came to be my fur babies and even start updating my plants that I started to grow using youtube and other blog pages to find the best ways to grow them. My take away from this would be learning responsibility skills. |
